To get the escape party on its way…

  1. Get everyone together on www.thepubhub.me, Zoom, Google Hangouts or whatever you’ve decided to use. (Remember thepubhub.me only works on a Chrome browser.)

  2. Make sure your WhatsApp group and individual chats are ready to go.

  3. Make sure your phone is not on silent, with volume turned up, good battery and notifications turned on (including the group chat notification setting in the WhatsApp app).

  4. Make sure everyone has pen and paper. They will need more than one sheet of paper. If they have scissors or a printer, they might want to get those ready too.

  5. Make sure everyone is playing on a laptop or desktop. They can use a tablet to play if they need to, but they may be at a slight disadvantage without the ability to “mouse over” some hidden clues.

  6. Make sure everyone has their audio turned on. If they don’t have sound or have any issues hearing the audio they can just let you know when they find some audio to play and you can send them the transcript.

  7. Post a link to the NooZoo website (www.quarantini.space/noozoo) to the Zoom/video chat so people can easily grab it on their computer and make sure everyone has opened it and navigated to the “Visitor” section.

  8. Make sure everyone is listening, then introduce yourself as ‘ALEX-A’, the host for the evening, and set the scene. You may be as dramatic/creepy as you wish…

“Hello and welcome to NooZoo. I am ALEX-A, your host for tonight. A few things before you set off…

    1. Passwords should always be entered in ALL CAPS (and numbers and spaces are allowed).

    2. You should always have access to all the clues you need but if in doubt, scroll! I repeat, before you ask for help… SCROLL DOWN!

    3. You’ll find that some answers can be put straight in, some you’ll need to send to the group chat and some you will need to send PRIVATELY just to me! Look at the instructions carefully and check you’re putting your answers in the right place!

    4. If you input a wrong password you can press back on your browser to go back and try again.

    5. You may use the Internet whenever you need to… and you will need to.

    6. There will be a break just over halfway through to give any stragglers a chance to catch up… and possibly overtake?!

    7. You don’t need to go on mute while you play but make sure you don’t say any spoilers or passwords out loud!

    8. If you get stuck, message me privately with your screen number (which you will find bottom right) and I’ll… do my best to help you.

    9. Keep your phone near you with the volume up so you don’t miss any of my vital, life-saving messages.

    10. Oh and… remember: There’s only one of me, so passwords and clues are first come, first serve. Better be quick!

When you’re all set up, give me a thumbs up and I’ll send the entry instructions to the group chat.”

  9. When you’re ready, post this to the group chat:

    Password to start is RABID

Party name is: <insert your chosen party name>

  10. You’re about to be busy – so read the tips below and head over to “During the party” for passwords and answers! (The first solution will come through very quickly, so get ready with your first answer!)

Remember:

  • You should not be posting any hints to the group chat, but don’t beat yourself up if you do!

  • Every page players see will be numbered bottom right, so they can easily tell you what page they are on.
